Hello Rochester! After several years away, I've returned to RNY for an extended visit. Growing up here was fun, and freezing!!! There was / is always plenty of ice and snow, but I do not remember it being so muddy!

I am in desperate need of an outside door mat that keeps the mud outside, but will do okay outdoors unprotected, meaning there is no awning nor other way to protect the door mat from the outside elements.

For the inside entrance, I am hoping to find door mats that are both functional & decorative. LL Bean Water Hogs sound very functional. Frontgate has pretty rugs and some mats that seem similar to the Water Hogs (functional, but not decorative). Some of the "Performance Rugs" there still require adhesive on the bottom & appear to be more decorative than functional, despite the reviews. Are functional door mats and decorative ones mutually exclusive? That is likely a topic for a future thread!

Anyhow, I am hoping that everyone who reads this post can advise me regarding both outdoor and indoor door mats. Thank you kindly!

Update: For outdoors I am going with the Highgates from Ballard Designs. They are 100% rubber & have spaces for drainage, plus they are decorative. For the inside entry in winter, it is LL Bean Water Hogs unless I am having a party. For Winter parties, the Frontgate Easy Cares will be fine. If those survive the season, they will be used for every day Spring & Summer.

I am happy to post which ones are effective & not once I truly know. Until then, stay warm Rochester!
