I smell paid placement. I never heard of that site, and I would bet they write articles for anyone who will pay.
Come on. The big attraction is to see the room where Susan B. Anthony died? Wow. That certainly puts Rochester in the same category as Honolulu, Salt Lake City, and Orlando.
An article a few years ago in the Toronto Globe and Mail said:
"(Susan B. Anthony's) home is another attraction, but everyone from cab drivers... to the mayor warned against venturing into the neighbourhood."
I accept Rochester for what it is: a small, declining, crime-ridden, rust-belt city, with some nice surrounding countryside, cheap housing, and the highest taxes and worst weather in the country. I'd be embarrassed to try to pretend otherwise and cheerlead for Rochester out of some sort of blind loyalty.
A great article highlighting some great things about our hometown.
There's a lot of surprising and important history in Rochester. Having Susan B. Anthony's home, where she died and having her and Frederick Douglass buried right here in Rochester at Mt. Hope Cemetery are things we should be very proud of to show off our American legacy. It's similar to how the cemetery with the founding fathers in Boston are buried and a popular tourist destination.
