My wife and I are currently living in Queens, NY with our 6 children. We are working in purchasing a home, and we are looking in the Rochester area. I wanted to see if anyone could suggest a nice area for a mixed family. My wife is african american and I'm puerto rican and malaysian. I just want a community thats safe, and has a good edcucation system. Thanks for any replies.

What kind of job skills are in your "tool kit"?? Your income will have a lot to do with where you can afford to live.

Henrietta, Chili, Irondequoit, parts of Gates and parts of Greece also come to mind. Some school districts in some of the towns mentioned here are more highly regarded than others, but none of them are bad. Meaning, any district you pick will have at least solid schools with at least state average test scores and above average/high graduation rates.

Personally, I feel that Rush-Henrietta has a nice balance of cultural diversity(and historically so), good academic achievement(has actually had black grad rates that were higher than all other groups, while all of them were high in recent years) and relative affordability, with plenty of shopping in the town. It is also in a good location in terms of access to Rochester, nice rural areas/communities/outdoor amenities and highway access to get to other cities.

Keep in mind they have 6 kids. Many of these areas have mostly smaller homes that would be very crowded for 8 people.

Just assuming coming from Brooklyn, Rochester housing is well within your budget, I would agree with Brighton

Aren’t you likely to get more home for a lower price in Henrietta in comparison?

OP, what is your budget? That could help determine if some of the listings are big enough for your family. For instance, this may work: https://www.realtor.com/realestatean...-18439?view=qv

I’m also curious as to what part of Queens they would be coming from?

2000 sq ft and 4 bedrooms would probably fit them nicely.

Yes and there is the aspect of getting the Pittsford name, but in a good SD that fits what they are looking for culturally.

From a cultural standpoint in terms of suburban SD’s, this one may be more in line with what you are use to, OP: https://data.nysed.gov/profile.php?instid=800000034083
