I guess the ROC is in prime position to view the eclipse in April 2024. Planners are expecting up to 500,000 people. Wow! I didn't realize it was such a big thing.

It would suck if it turned out to be a cloudy day. The only way I'd pay top dollar for such an event is if I was guaranteed an unobstructed view. There are only a few mountains in the world where you can drive to the top and see the sky above the clouds.
Personally, I'll be out of town that week, have a cruise planned.
My area was in the path of the last one. It was interesting but in my opinion not worth travelling to observe. It got dark for a few minutes and then the light returned. I was underwhelmed.

Pretty silly, I admit, but a great time for all people to gather and celebrate with something in common. It's also a great time for businesses to get creative and benefit. I support all of it.
The Rochester area's newspaper, the D&C added a number of precautions to take, in their "internet newspaper", today. Given the potential risks that they've outlined, I think I'll simply stay indoors.....
