Hi, We are relatively new to the Rochester area--we moved to Brighton in the summer of '07. My son is almost 17 and is finally getting around to getting his license. I was looking at the listings for DMVs in the Rochester area and got very confused. Some of them seem to be only open part-time, some seem to be "branches"--which one would you recommend our going to if we live in Brighton? I stopped by one that was in a shopping center out on, I think, East Henrietta Road, and it was nuts--I just wanted to pick up a study guide for him, and there was only one line for everything, so I'd have had to wait in line for 20 minutes just to pick up a book (we wound up finding one online.) He'll need to go to the DMV to take the written test and then the road test.
Thanks for any advice!
The one in Henrietta is crazy. You will wait forever. When I was working I had to take the day off to go after I got married to change my name on my license. You might want to call the Brighton Town Hall. I know there is a traveling DMV that will go around from Town Hall/Rec Centers.... and it might be the case in Brighton. I know it is in Perinton and Penfield at times. You can call there as well to find out the hours/days it will be if you want to go there. I don not know the schedule.
The one at Greece Ridge Mall is quick. It is very convinient.
