I tried to go to the original Pontillos the other day while I was in Batavia and it was closed. According to a couple of locals, the owners died and the kids took it over and didn't pay taxes.
Does anybody live in the area and know if it has a chance to re-open?

This is awful! Will someone please buy this place from the kids and bring it back to its former glory?

For a second I thought you meant the whole chain was closing down and a little piece of me died inside...but just the one in Batavia? Might sound harsh but I could care less. As long as the west side Rochester burbs still have a few i'm good!

I'm with Informed on this one.... one store closing I am okay with... it is a shame they didn't pay their taxes but...I never went to there. I just get delivery from my location.... there are many others.

I don't think they're in danger at all. I order from the Mt. Hope location pretty often and they seem to do pretty good business.

Yea, the chain is fine. The original location closed because of the owners. Each shop is individually owned.

The location in Batavia was a unique one. It offered a much different menu than the chains and was a great place to go sit down and enjoy a pie. Unless you want Pizza Hut it was one of the last places to offer full service pizza. It was sad when I saw that it was gone today, those of you who say you don't care must have never went.
