Hey all,

So, we finally moved to Rochester - TODAY! We're in the market for a new mattress, and I don't know anything about the various stores in our area that sell them. Are there places you guys would recommend, and places to avoid? We want to get a very good quality king sized set, and we want to get a good deal of course, and we don't want to deal with any sleazeballs who are going to try to rip us off.

Thoughts? Recommendations?

Thanks!

I would shop around. But we bought our bed and mattress at Ashleys by Marketplace Mall.

One thing to look out for, if your house is older like ours you may have a narrow staircase. We didn't think of that until we tried to get the boxspring upstairs and it wouldn't fit. For about $50 more we exchanged it for a split box spring.

Welcome to Rochester!

We bought our queen size mattress set (serta) w/10 yr warranty from Big Lots in Henrietta over 1 yr ago for less than $500. Still pleased with the purchase. They also have layaway, if needed.

Thanks! Does anyone know anything about City Mattress or Metro Mattress? When I googled "Rochester mattress," those are the main stores that came back in the search.

We got DD's at City Mattress in Penfield.... we are pleased... they treated us very well- but the delivery was a bit of a long time..... We LOVED Ashley and the delivery time was great. I would go with Ashley if I did it over again- got a King there and love it.... no problems at all....

Thanks skbs - we will have to check out Ashley. I read on Consumer Reports that furniture and bedding stores tend to offer a better experience than some of the mattress "superstores" that deal only in mattresses.

Charlotte Appliance is a winner. Doesn't sound like it sells them, but it does. Skip the Metros.
