I'm planning a date night with the hub, and we are new in town. Any suggestions for a fine dining restaurant with GREAT food, service, and ambience?
We ate at the Erie Grill at our hotel one time when we were visiting before our move, and that place was horrible. My husband thought his fish was inedible, and this is coming from a guy who usually eats anything. we didn't bother sending it back since it took so long for anything to come in the first place.
Anyway, I'm looking for someplace really good and not loud. Any suggestions. Thanks!
often man and woman concept of romantic fine dining is very different. for the guy (im sorry i gota side with him) its about the food. for the woman its the ambiance.
for too many women the smell of mastercard heating up is an delicious odor.
for the many 40 dollar a plate meals i have eaten in america a french person would have yelled at the manager and cook for serving such slop at those prices.
I would recommend 2vine also, can be pricey. There is Ricks Prime Rib on Buffalo rd. Tournedos is a really fancy place and you can catch a show without having to drive. If you want something really fancy, there is Salvatores on Transit rd in Depew, and the Garden Place Hotel, both are right off the 90.
My favorite place is Edibles on University... but I also have to say my mood changes a lot as well in what I am in the mood for in terms of romance... on a sunny warm summer night I also LOVE sitting outside at Aladins along the canal with wine and appetizers, then a salad, entre, AMAZING dessert and coffee....taking dinner slow and if we are lucky and time it right hitting the band is playing across the canal...watching the boats and ducks... but it is the company more than the place.... but those are my two favorites and they are TOTALLY different in terms of atmosphere, price tag, and menu...
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I had looked up some of them before, and it seems the consensus is that you have to yell to have a conversation at Good Luck. I'll have to run the ideas past the hub and see what appeals to him! As for Huckleberry, I don't know I'd you were being intentionally humorous, but LOL. :-). I hope there are places around here where you can have BOTH good food and good ambience... Surely it's not one or the other? There were so many amazing choices when we loves in LA. I know this is not Los Angeles, but I look forward to trying out Rochester's offerings! ;-)

2vine was very loud when we went, although it was Valentines and packed. Ricks Prime Rib was very quiet and had a decent atmosphere, I thought the food could be a little better.

I went on a Thursday night and it was packed... very loud, and I didn't think the food was that great. ESPECIALLY not for the price they charged.
Was extremely disappointed because all I have heard is how great it is.
My recommendation would be Pasta Villa on Ridge Road.

Wow I guess they are popular. Did you make a reservation?
