My fiance and I may be making a move to Rochester in the near future. Neither of I have ever been there so we dont know what are the best areas to live in. He will be working in the city (zip is 14692). We want to be somewhat close to there to cut down on commute time.

We currently live in Saratoga, NY. We pay $1300 per month for rent. The average house prices are $180-$230,000 for a 3 bed/2 bath house. Our area is the kind of neighborhood where I could leave my car running at the grocery store and it would NEVER be stolen. This is the kind of area that I am looking for in Rochester.

Ideally we are looking for a 3 bed 2 bath apartment with all modern amenities (dishwasher, washer/dryer, garage, pool, club house, etc). We could go as high as $1500 per month.

We dont have children but plan to start a family in a few years. We will start out renting and if we like the area, we will consider buying a house. Its very important to be in a good school district.

Does anyone know if this area even exists? I appreciate the help!

Try Pittsford, Penfield, Webster, Brighton or Fairport. Maybe the Western part of Irondequoit too.

Move into the outer city, Henrietta or Penfield. They are the nicest parts of the area.

If your looking for an outer city apartment stay away from Hidden Creek, it is filled with punk kids and the basements flood during thunderstorms.

I think you would really like Greece, off the Long Pond Road area. You can get on 390 and get downtown quickly.

You could rent a house on Lake Ontario or a 3-bedroom apartment in the Long Pond Shores complex, also waterfront.

(Personally, I don't like Henrietta, so "nicest" will mean different things to different people, but based on what you said, Greece fits the bill.)
