When I lived in Rochester (grew up there), I brought a Czech family to Highland Park for the Lilac Festival upon their request. The father of the family was furious because he found it so boring. I remember him standing at the pansy bed, pointing and yelling.

I thought the festival was fun. It was small, but that was okay. Sounds like it's grown considerably since then.
