Right now I live around 6 miles from RIT. I grew up in Northern California where things are really spread out, so 6 miles sounded really close. Now that I am here I realize 6 miles is way too far, especially without a car. So I am hoping to find something closer next year. Any suggestions for apartments near RIT that are reasonably priced. Park Point and Rustic Village are both WAY out of my price range. I'd like to find a cat friendly studio or one bedroom for under $600.

Honestly, unless you want to rent a room in some craptastic old house with drafty windows/bad heat/$hitty roommates, good luck with finding anything for that much. Getting a car isn't an option at all?

I agree. OP may want to look for a roommate at Rustic or one of the other common complexes for students.

The only thing I could suggest that's within walking/biking distance is Westbrooke Commons. It's right next to RIT, but kind of crappy. You might be able to find something in that price range.

Maybe the apartments at Wedgewood-On The Green? It's located behind the Henrietta Town Hall and Library, but the entrance is off Lehigh Station Road. They have studios, but I don't know about their policy on pets (none were allowed back in 1982 when I lived there).
