Hello,

My fiance and I are looking for housing (walkable distance) near Strong Hospital. I will be starting medical school at UofR.

I would greatly appreciate if anybody with an apartment (1-2 bdrm) OR any leads on an apartment sent me a message.

Thank you very much and have a great day!

Across the street from the hospital (look up Raleigh St. and its neighborhood) there are the occasional rentals which pop up. Also, look at the area right across the river (neighborhood near to the foot of Genesee St.), where Arvine Heights is. That's where a lot of students live, and there are some frat and sorority houses, so it's a safe area. You could venture slightly west of there, too, although I wouldn't push my luck too much.

Genesee Pk. Blvd. is generally civil, too.

The Ellwanger-Barry neighborhood is a stone's throw, too, and is bounded by Elmwood, Mt. Hope, South, and Reservoir Rd. Nice area.

I retract part of my last post in this thread. A friend who works at UofR sent this to me today:

It seems as if most of this "activity" is taking place in the 19th Ward west of the river - where the UofR is expanding (i.e. Brooks landing) directly into one of the city's worst ghetto areas.
