A tiny "town"? less than a mile from our central MN farm has a Catholic Church and 11 houses.
No business places anymore.
Every 3rd Sunday of August, the church has their big bazaar fundraiser with a great chicken dinner.......mashed potatoes,gravy, stuffing, vegetables ,pies................and what really sets it apart is it is all cooked and served b y the parishoners working together for generation after generation.
NOTHING is catered in !
This year marks the 59th consecutive year of the bazaar.
They usually serve between 1800-2000 meals each bazaar.
Bingo , music, games, beer stand, hamburger stand from noon to 8 followed by a grand raffle with over 120 prizes awarded and many valued over $100.
Grass fields near the church are used as huge parking lots.
The Hells Angels came in to our small town in the 1970s and killed a few people in it.
Yikes! That's not good. Rival gang or just being thugs?
We've had British royalty visit relatives here. And in other towns I've seen amazing talent and generosity at times. Otherwise, living where a siren was sounded when moose came into town was interesting. Lots of wildlife in towns where I am near.
Drunken tourists playing "butt darts" is interesting. Repulsive. But, a bit intersting.

Let me think.... theres an unsolved murder mystery of a young teenage girl thats been around a long, long time. Murder is typically unheard of in the small town I live in.
Every Wednesday morning, men in our township gather at the gunsmith for coffee, and to discuss hunting, trapping and fishing. My wife calls it Floyd's Barbershop in honor of Mayberry. The gunsmith is only open to the public one day each week, and that is the only store-front business we have. So it can be a ritual for town residents.
This is about the county of Floyd, not just the town. All the various creeks, streams, books, branches, etc that flow in this county originate in this county and eventually flow out of it. No water flows in to the county from any where else. The eastern continental divide runs through the county so water on eastern side winds up going to the Atlantic Ocean while water on the western side makes it way to the Mississippi and in the the Gulf.
The county has about 15,000 residents. Once a year about 15,000 hippies descend on the area for FloydFest, a big music festival that lasts 5 days.
Too bad there are no older North Dakota posters from the tiny town of Zap North Dakota.
The event was supposed to be " Zip to Zap" and hopes were to attract enough young people to drink the town dry. This event was not sponsored by the town, but thought up by outsiders.
May 10, 1969 was the day 2,000-3,000 young " hippie" people descended on the town by surprise to have a huge festival and it got out of hand.
Originally, it was supposed to be a group of young people swooping in on a small town and drinking it dry.
What happened in Zap is a greedy bar owner decided to take advantage and raise the price of beer sky high. It got real ugly after that with the riots !
I wasn't there but read the huge write up in the Minneapolis paper the next day

Zap North Dakota got theirs also.
