I am looking for a small town that has an old-fashioned ambience,an old saloon or boarding house,an old town hall and a general store. The kind of town that makes you think that you are in the 30s/40s/50s.
(like in the film This Property Is Condemned ,directed by Sidney Pollack)
Please, send some suggestions.

A town like that is most likely a tourist type of town. High prices and not much going on during the week when weekend visitors are not around.

IMHO..nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there.

I think small towns are a little more modern than you give credit.

Stanfield, NC has at least one old store with a wood floor and several old guys in the corner chatting about what they aren't gonna do today

Don't know about boarding houses and such, it does sound like you're looking for a tourist town which hasn't changed on purpose. Those places always seem fake to me. Fun to visit but it's always a show.

Glendale, KY. Super cute little town. Very Mayberry in feeling.

Check out the link below of photos of Grove, Texas. Although it's a ghost town, the photos are nice to view. It's not my trip, but someone's on the Texas forum.
