Couple weeks ago I started a post on the community facebook page inquiring if others had problems with trespassers hunting on their land.
Well this generated quite a few responses from other local landowners who chimed in their experience and suggestions on how to deal with it.
A reporter from a local tv news channel asked if I would be willing to do a televised story on the problem to bring awareness to the public and I agreed.
A reporter contacted me and asked to do a video chat (interview) and if I would send video and photos of the trespassers caught on my game cameras to put together for his televised story.
After speaking with him I am wondering if their could be some negative consequences to showing the trespassers so I am asking here for thoughts.

Well let me think. . .make a bunch of guys with guns mad at me? No, I would definitely not want that. I would only agree if you have until now and will remain very anonymous. For TV that would mean changed voice and blurred face.

Of course, But have you seen the news stories around Christmas of home buglars stealing UPS deliveries off house porches? These are home taken videos released to the news and helps deter thieves from returning and exposes their identity to the public.
If i do nothing to stop it and this continues, I also run the risk of running into one of these armed trespassers while I am out on my property.
What about agreeing to an audio only chat or the blurred out face with no name announced? They could still show game camera videos of the trespassers. If multiple landowners are having this problem hard to trace the program back to any one of you.
Fame has its downside. Up to you to decide whether you want the downside or not.
I would avoid anything that could bring retaliation. In the meantime you should probably go overboard bananas with posting no trespassing and/or hunting signs and such all around your property. Put up obvious trail cams so that would-be violators WILL see them and think twice. Just use cheapos, hell they don't even hafta work, it's just for a deterrent.

Nothin' very hard about disabling a visible trail cam. Takes about 2 seconds. The ones that might be out there somewhere (but you aren't sure) tend to work better. You only find out there was one when the state trooper shows up on your doorstep!
I know it's easy to disarm or remove them.
The point is, if they see one, they will hopepfully think there are more out there that they don't see. Psychological warfare.
