I don't think you read the article.

Some of these are older but relevant:

https://cops.usdoj.gov/RIC/Publicati...s-p124-pub.pdf

https://csnews.com/are-you-doing-eno...-your-stores-0

So it's not just the Dollar type stores that have crime issues.

DG's I've noticed are carrying more and more produce. They're also beginning to offer FedEx services at their stores. There's one I stop at if I've forgotten water/snacks for a day out working the dogs, it reminds me a lot of a small-town grocery store.

We had a motorcycle repair shop here that was a UPS drop off location.

There are Dollar General Markets where I live though they are generally closer or in town. They have fresh produce and meats. A few summers ago I would stop by the one near the high school and check their produce. They had good specials, I would get 6 big bell peppers for $1.

Seems like a long and rambling article written by somebody who doesn't want a Dollar Store in their neighborhood.

Sickening how they came to my town of 1,700 and refused to consider a large, vacant, for sale store by the city square, and instead bought and destroyed a very nice old home that was in good condition to build an ugly concrete block "brick" I dont shop there.

I have started to see these more often close to Corps of Engineer and State park campgrounds.

It's like blaming umbrella's for rain. Stores open up where they'll have a customer base. Although, it is sad that some of them didn't work to enhance store security.
