You're saying that animal abuse shouldn't be legally punishable, and isn't serious? You do know that serial killers frequently start out with abusing animals, don't you?

No, what I am saying...if an animal threatens a human, the human is considered at fault if they retaliate.
I believe the term 'animal abuse' has been misused. Disciplining an animal is not 'abuse'.
Yes, I agree, but we probably don't think the same posters are doing it.
I have absolutely no problem with discipline of animals OR dogs (in fact, I was "the ogre" amongst our friends when our children were growing up - if a child misbehaved, they'd then look at me to see what I was going to do about it, rather than their parents, most often, and I have a heeler, and those dogs are all about The Rulz and having them and obeying them). No baseball bats were needed in order to teach discipline to either. I DO have a problem with people who clearly are more likely than not to decide that a perfectly friendly animal is a threat as an excuse to hit it with a baseball bat or something being encouraged to ignore the laws that are in place to prevent just that kind of abuse - and abuse it is - by people with clear agendas of their own.
That you are afraid of dogs does not make the dog a threat - it means that you have an irrational fear that paints all of a species with a broad brush. That the dog barks does not make the dog a threat. That you've had a bad experience with a dog in past does not make all dogs a threat. That you want to THINK that a dog barking makes it a threat does not justify abusing an animal. That you want to think it does says a heck of a lot more bad about you than it does about the dog.
Allot of people have a base ball bat with them or some kind of club.
If you think the dog is going too bite use it.
A base ball bat is discipline???
