I would imagine that a very large pecentage of rural people would be in awe and amazement that it is even Humanly possible for a town to have 50,000 people. Since they are not even used to living in towns with more than 50 people let alone 50,000 people.
Many people living in rural areas are there by choice, having chosen to move there to "get away" from big city.
Many go away to college in more populous areas and come back to the country life.
Even those who live their entire lives in small towns or out in the country and never travel elsewhere have access to TV, and internet these days. They may not be able to grasp the concept of someplace like New York City, but then, neither can I, and I live in a city of over 300k.
In answer to your question, I would guess under 10% think the way you are saying, probably close to 0%
I don't consider a town of 50,000 a "big city", but it's bigger than where I want to call home! We have a town about that size 30 minutes from us, and I only go there when I absolutely have to!

Why would you never want to live in a town with 50,000 people ? In your opinion what are the cons of living in a town of that size ? Is life in a town of 50,000 too fast paced for you ?
I didn't vote. I have been on here very long but I have seen these sort of posts before. People from bigger towns always heckling the people from more rural areas because deep down in side it fills a void that makes them somehow fear superior.
I don't get it either, and that may not be the intent but that is certainly the way this post is coming across as.
Either way I find it ironic that people from bigger towns dote on how there is so much to do there, and so little to do in smaller towns, and yet people like myself, Marmac, Texashorselady, M3 Mitch and Sandhills Guru have multiple threads on what we are actively doing in our lives rather then posting negative, condescending threads on where others live.
It begs the question, if you have all this time to post plenty of negativity, you could do that easily enough in a 10 x 10 shack on the DEW Line with a computer terminal and satelite uplink...why aren't you out living up that big town atmoshere instead of heckling us?

There is not much to do in a town of only 50,000 people. Now a city of 500,000 people is a whole another story.
( he posted about having only one Itallian restaurant in his town-------got laughed at--------and probably wants revenge now.)
Big cities have alot more than 1 Italian restaurant.
