I have a job where I have to travel quite a bit. I am interested in any gated communities in or near the above areas. I'm looking for reasonably priced communities (if they exist). It is more for safety reasons and not golf, etc... Homeowner's dues estimates would be great if you have them. Thanks!

There are a lot of gated communities in EDH. "reasonably priced" is all relative to your budget, but Serrano and Bridlewood are the two that have houses in the lower price range for EDH/gated. Serrano runs $170/month or more HOA plus Mella Roos. That includes front lawn maintenance/water. Bridlewood runs about $75 per month and includes their sports center (pool, etc.). Promontory, the Summit, and Francisco Oaks are also nice but lowest priced houses in that area start in the low $600Ks, except for the occasional smaller house that comes on the market in the $500Ks.

I am personally not a big fan of gated communities, but Serrano is the one with the strictest HOA. Meaning that have people patrolling frequently looking for violations. But the would probably also be the most likely to notice if something is amiss with your house. Between that and front yard maintenance, it is probably best for someone that travels a lot. Serrano right now probably has the lowest cost/sq ft of the gated communities in EDH.

Good luck with your search.
Nina

FYI - EDH is about a 45 minute drive to the airport, so keep that in mind if you are traveling by plane!
