I know everyone has a different idea of what is great? But list what your favorite area to live around the Sacramento area is and why? I am looking to relocate somewhere kind of in the Northern California area in about a year and a half. Hopefully this will give me some idea of the type of area I want to move to with my family.

Galt. Woodland. haha.

Actually I like Folsom and Davis. I think it's the nicest of the Sac suburbs. I hate suburbs but Folsom and Davis are the exception. Well planned out communities that doesn't have that sprawl.

best in terms of what? Or do you just want to hear why people live where they do in sac? Like all cities, people live in certain areas because:
1. They are priced out of another area. Or they can afford that area.
2. They have grown up in that particular area.
3. It is close to their job.
4. They like metropolitan landscapes. Or rural landscape. Or suburb landscape.
5. Family, friends nearbye.
6. They prefer lower crime areas.
7. They prefer higher crime areas.
8. proximity to desirable/ useful locations for that person.

what kind of community are you set up to live in or want.

I am interested in the culture of different locations and why people like it there. Not because of family being close, but because of things the city has to offer like attractions, good schools, whatever someone thinks makes it a good city to live in. It may depend on the persons interests.

Orangevale, Folsom, Fair Oaks, Auburn, Placerville.

These seem like the only places where one can avoid the ghetto mentality. There is another kind of mentality in some of the motherlode suburbs, but you can pretty much nod your head in agreement with them and they go away and leave you alone.

Most of the city of Sacramento is, for all practical purposes, suburban neighborhoods. So would "Sacramento" count as a valid response to your question? In my opinion, it has the best attractions and things that make it a good city to live in.

Not a personal favorite but I'll use this thread to highlight an area I think gets frequently overlooked.

Cameron Park, just to the east of El Dorado Hills.

Very nice setting, larger lots than you see in most of metro Sacramento, very reasonably priced housing, safe and convenient to shop for everyday items.
