Our 10-year old just finished about 2 years of wearing spacers then retainers, but is most likely going to need braces. We moved to this area a year ago, but she's continued seeing her old orthodontist (only 2 apptmts during the year) in Las Vegas. Now that she'll actually get braces, we need to switch to a local orthodontist. Any first-hand recommendations in the Rocklin/Roseville/Lincoln area? Seems orthodontists advertise/market fairly aggressively and shamelessly in this area (even through LivingSocial deals), clouding any semblance of credibility and making them look more like car dealerships. We want a few *good* recommendations from those of you who have kids that recently went through treatment (or current). Thanks!

Have you found a children's dentist yet? They can probably provide a good recommendation. School starts soon, you can also ask the other parents from your child's glass. Good luck and don't fall for the shameless advertizing!

We love our dentist, Dr. Hopper, but it's obvious they like draining your available insurance every year. If you can stomach that, he and his staff are top notch.

We're with Dr. Elenberger for ortho and he's pretty solid. Steve Kineret was also recommended to us. All 3 are in Rocklin.

Steve Kineret is the orthodontist closest to my daughter's school, and my daughter's friends all seem to like him and his office. However, he's the one who does so much marketing through social media like Groupon and Living Social with email deals ("First 5 people to call and ask about xxxxx get 20% off!!") about 2-3 times/week. He may be a good orthodontist, but just seeing this type of marketing immediately discredits him in my book, but is that unfair? Also, our previous orthodontist in Las Vegas had us call another ortho he respected and knew in Sacramento to see who she would recommend out here in Rocklin, and she gave Dr. Booms a very high recommendation, but her office is a little farther away. I'm wondering if there's someplace I could look up (the orthodontists' equivalent to the BBB) to see if there have been any documented complaints about the quality of their work. You would think orthodontists are somewhat easy to evaluate, as the result of their work should be plainly visible....but then again, what parent is going to say "He/she made my kid ugly" or "my teeth are more crooked now than before braces!"??
