Hello Everyone,

I will be moving to Stockton end of August from southern CA for work. I wanted to rent a 2br apt. Any suggestions on good place. I plan to go up there in a couple weeks for apartment hunting.

I am looking for apartments similar to this.

Find Stockton apartments and homes for rent in the East SF Bay area at The Pavilions at Spanos Park.

Thanks!

Well everything else will be subpar to your example as The Pavilions are the best apartments in Stockton at the moment.

For the price of a 2bd at the Pavilions you can rent a really nice house in Stockton in a good neighborhood.

The only thing close to the Pavilions in San Joaquin County would be the Paseo Apartments in Manteca.

Craigslist is always a good way to look for rentals.

Stockton doesn't really do luxury apartment communities. Real estate is just too cheap here, especially now, to justify it. For the price of rent of a 2 bed room at the Pavilions you could pay the mortgage/PMI/Property Taxes on a 2,000+ square foot house in the surrounding Spanos Park neighborhood.

If things work out longterm, I'd buy. For now, looking for rental options only.

I certainly understand that. There are plenty of houses although craiglist is full of people with unreasonable expectations (expecting their 2005 mortgages to be covered by rent).

If you want apartments...
Mariner's Cove is one of the few with garages, attached on the the townhouse models.
Venetian Bridges if you want a more urban feel or as close as you can get in Stockton. Great location (although not as quite as a purely residential area would be) and it has large floor plans some with a good amount of outdoor space which can be nice in the summer evenings.
Neither are really like Pavillion... they are older and haven't been updated, just two nicer examples I can think of.

If you decide to look for a single family home to rent you'll see a lot of houses pop up in Weston Ranch. Do not do it. The neighborhood still looks decent because it's new, but it is the ghetto.
