soooooooooooo glad I asked on here before booking La Quinta....... I would have been UPSET.

I stayed at The Travel Lodge in R. Cordova in May and the hotel was nice and the price but the location was not.

The Citizen is great! The building used to be an office building.

You're around the corner from a great sushi restaurant, Megami, and the best coffee in town, Temple Coffee. There are a whole barrage of nightclub/nightspots within a block on the 1000 block of K Street: District 30, Dive Bar, Parlare Lounge. Try Ambrosia for dessert--they reopen at night on the weekends to serve the nightclub crowd. Pizza Rock has great pizza, although eating there is kind of like being inside a giant Ed Hardy shirt. And if you like horror movies, there's a pre-Halloween showing of Lucio Fulci's "Zombie" on the 22nd at the Crest Theatre, a beautiful art-house theater right on K between 10th and 11th. There are

Live music can be heard at Marilyn's at 9th and K, or the Torch Club at 15th and I, or Capitol Garage at 15th and K, or, really, at dozens of places in the central city--depends on what you're looking for.

Glad it worked out. La Quinta is right next to I-5 plus lots of aggressive/crazy homeless people. Not a place to hang out unless you work on Richards Blvd.
Enjoy the Citizen!

Citizen is in Downtown.

Tahoe is a great place. But it is a small place as well, not enough urban amenities for those interested in a more city lifestyle.

It's kind of...vague. Generally, east of 16th Street is Midtown and west is Downtown. But there isn't really a firm line, and there are residential neighborhoods south of the capitol that look pretty much like Midtown. Generally the farther east, the quieter and safer things are, although Midtown "quiet" is often not all that quiet...

Midtown is nice, but I think I'd recommend staying at least a couple blocks from corners with a bars/clubs (i.e. O/P & 21st) because people really love their loud cars in Sacramento for some reason, and loud cars love bars.

There's some guy who drives around midtown with what I guess is an old police car that's got an incredibly loud exhaust system and a siren and he drives around blaring that. There seems to be a lot more of that kind of stuff around here than other cities I've lived in.
