There's just way too many neighborhoods to go into on an Internet Forum. Best to do some research..good luck.
Rancho Cordova was an unincorporated area until becoming a new city in 2003. Although the established parts are sketchy in terms of crime and esthetics the area south of highway 50, East of Zinfandel south to Keifer and west of Grant Line Road includes many family friendly communities with established neighborhoods and ongoing construction of new homes (south of Douglas and east to Grant Line Road). The kids attend the top performing schools within EGUSD. Shopping in Rancho during the day is fine. At night its about a 20 minute drive to Folsom which feels more secure in the later hours. Careful with Orangevale as some areas are very depressed. Elk Grove's reputation took a beating because of its rapid growth. However, there are many nicely maintained and tranquil neighborhoods and lots of retail/restaurants. Enjoy your search.
