My family and I live in northern Alabama and want to move back WEST ASAP. I grew up in the central valley in CA and lived in Carson City, NV for awhile and have been in AL for 4 years. I want to get back to CA and love what the Rocklin area has to offer (from visiting and research).

What is the real job situation out there? My husband has a Bachelors Degree in IT - Managment (just received) and has been doing online job searches/applicadtions since June 11 with only 2 callbacks. He also has 10 yrs experience in IT. Is it really that hard to get a job out there? There are always 100's of postings of available jobs and he has applied to most of them.

Are there more jobs heading towards Vacaville area and is it similar to live there?

We don't want to give up on Cali but can't seem to get jobs.

Jobs are hard to get right now. Rocklin is a very nice city to live in, very safe and very boring. But very nice for a family. It is also affordable, you can get a decent starter home in the 200K range.

Vacaville sucks, but there are outlets there, there are also some nice areas. Not as scenic as Rocklin though. Yes, there are more jobs out there as it is closer to the bay area, but home prices are also higher.
