I just moved to South Land Park and apparently it's cell phone hell. I did some research and there's only ONE nextel tower approximately 3 miles from me. I'm dropping ALL of my calls and this is not working out for me, ha ha. In SF, there were at least 15 sprint/nextel towers in my area and I never had any problems. I've called Sprint, but you know their runaround script and I'm ready to kill them. So rather than do this, my contract is up, thank God and I'm ready to switch over. But before I do so, I want to do a little survey. Can you help a girl out? lol

What's been your experience with your cell phone here?

What is the best cell phone provider in Sac and/or Land Park?

Should I just suck up the crappy signal issue in Land Park - is this the norm with other cell providers, Verizon, AT&T, etc?

What phone do you have or what do you think is the best phone for Sac (reception wise)?

Thanks a lot! I appreciate your advice and sharing in advance.

Have a blessed day

I've heard good things about MetroPCS in Sac, but I have no personal experience with them.

I use Verizon and have never had a dropped call. I travel all over Sacramento County, Monterey, and Santa Clara and have had no problems.

Thanks KidBlue. I think I'm going with Verizon based on feedback I'm receiving from friends in the area and you also just confirmed it.

Verizon! We have had Verizon for years..in Southern Ca..in Sac area when we lived in the country in Newcastle, now in Southern Utah..we are moving back to Lincoln area, plan to keep it then...I can't remember the last time we had dropped calls, and we have service nearly everywhere...even in San Juan Puerto Rico and St. Thomas... Verizon...definitely!

Yeah Verizon! I think I'm going to get it. Some friends have been trying to persuade me to go with AT&T because they have it and it will save us minutes, but I just can't take the chance of dropped calls. I don't even bother answering my Sprint phone. Dropped calls are evil, LOL. Thank you for sharing your experience with your service and have a great weekend.

Thanks Barb! I'll probably go to the store in midtown (if there is one, haven't looked yet). But if I'm in Roseville, I'll check it out. Thanks!

Can't comment specifically on coverage in Sac proper, but I'm in Roseville and can attest to Verizon as well. I had been with Cellular One -> AT&T -> Cingular -> AT&T for over 12 years in the Bay Area prior, and was originally quite happy until a few years ago, when calls started dropping regularly. Just a few months ago, right before moving here, I switched over to Verizon for a number of reasons (one of them being their EV-DO wireless data service, which has better coverage than AT&T's competing service), and never looked back. Customer service has been very good too -- imagine that!
