I am from the Palm Springs area originally so I know it well but I like the fact that Sacramento has more universities and people seem more down to earth. What are the pros and cons. I'm thinking of moving to a small area just outside of Sacramento in Roseville so I'm not worried about crime I just want to know more about the gay lifestyle and what options there are out there.

Can anyone give me any thoughts on this I would really appreciate this.
To the OP, why do you want to live in Roseville? Do you already know someone living there? Roseville is all about traditional families. Not that there aren't gay men, there are, but it's just not somewhere to go if you are single, gay and looking for a love connection. As many have said, midtown Sac has a vibrant nightlife, a lot of great restaurants, an art scene, etc. You would be severly limiting your options in Roseville, and as far as having to drive into Sacramento to "make the scene", that's not very convenient and kind of a hassle for any single, gay or straight.

Did Sacramento fit your needs OP? Or did you cross it off your list? It does seem like a nice city. Especially if one is looking for a smaller big city within range of a much bigger Metro.

I've lived in sac my whole life, and its a very calm and nice place. You would probably love the downtown/land park area's.

Roseville is a great area to live if you can afford it (and right now housing prices are as good as they are going to get). And while I don't see any animosity towards gay folks there, there really isnt much in the way of a gay community. Excellent restaurants, great shopping, great neighborhoods? Yes. But not much in the way of a LGBT social activities.

What you want is 'Lavendar Heights', which is located midtown. You could easily live somewhere midtown or east Sacramento and still be a stone's throw from all the action. Here's a map I found on google outlining the area:
