We are considering moving to the Roseville area and need help picking neighborhoods to target. We have school-aged kids so are looking for great public schools (elementary now, but planning ahead thru high school).

I'm hoping to stay under 600k. What's most important to me are the schools and sense of community. I don't feel the need to get the most luxurious house we can afford. We are quite modest.

We live in Granite Bay and it is nice. There isn't a tight community though. A lot of older folks but the school are good..better than Roseville, IMO. You can get a lot more house in Roseville than GB and prices are on the rise again.

Just about all of Roseville is kid friendly, save for the hobo area near the Union Pacific yards. And even that isn't too bad.

Check out this school rating map...generally anywhere you see a top rated elementary school, you will find a safe, family friendly neighborhood. Your budget should be fine in Roseville and even parts of Granite Bay. Don't rule out Rocklin as there are also good schools and neighborhoods there.

Not sure if you are still looking at where to live, but we moved to Whitney Ranch in Rocklin 5 years ago and love it here. There is a real sense of community here with tons of young kids and lots of nice parks (kinda seems like the vibe you are looking for). Schools in the Rocklin school districts are great too- we've been really happy. The commute to Kaiser Roseville should be about 20 min from here. We have two little ones, and hope to stay here for awhile. If you want more details, you can PM me with any specific questions you may have.
