My family and I are moving to Sacramento area end of November. I will be driving a 25' UHAUL or BUDGET truck with household stuff while my wife will be driving in her vehicle with family friend and 3 small dogs.

My question is about California Agriculture inspection station when we enter the state from Nevada (I-80). What should we know before we approch inspection station?

The only issue is that we have 4 plants and 3 small dogs. If California is strict about the plants issue then we can give these away before we move. What do we need for the dogs?

Thanks!

I don't think the inspection station is even manned anymore. The state is too poor. I don't think there's going to be a problem with what you have. Especially the pets. Just say you don't have any plants. But again, I don't think anyone even works at those places anymore.

On my recent trip in July, they still asked about produce and other flora brought into California approaching Needles.

Should we bring veterinary documents proving recent shots? just in case they're open (I did noticed that there's brand new Truckee inspection station on the website)

Usually the Truckee Inspection Station, do not bring fruit with you. The usual questions the asked the traveler coming to California are: do you have fruits with you?Where did you come from? If you said you don't have fruits, they just let you go through. In our going in and out from Nevada to Sacramento, I don't experience and/or remember they asked if I have plant?

Default Inspection Stations.

If they are manned (I doubt it) they will ask if you have any fruit. If possible have the plants in the back of the truck. Not a problem at all. The pets are not even noticed.
The concentration is basically the large trucks and the hiway patrol safety inspections.

Just dont say anything..they only ask about fruits and vegetables...we haul our dogs in and out of state a lot and never a problem with them..always a good idea to have their vet records in case of emergency and youll need them when you find a new vet in CA anyway..good luck

It's an AGRICULTURAL inspection station. Your dogs are not even under their jurisdiction. I'd leave the plants.

The dogs are no problem, yes the stations are manned, I would recommend calling and asking the powers that be what the rules about house plants are. We had no problem when we moved to California from Tahoe. I think it also depends on how far into Nevada you are coming from.
