Sacramento - 83 degrees

Vegas - 109 degrees
PHX - 104 degrees
Fresno - 101 degress
Oroville - 91 degress

Pacifica - 60 degress

This last heat wave is a good example: Compared to other hot spots: Sacramento was always 15-25 degrees cooler for evening, nightime, and morning temps which saves alot on A/C useage and allows for comfortable morning activities.
I might have split hairs over summertime comfort in valley cities with you at one time, but from 1997 to 2008 I spent seven years in Salinas and four years in Monterey. From this point on in my life any place in the valley is HOT (and that includes Sacramento). Anyway, you can't paint the entire metro region by a reporting station at Executive Airport. Right now Oroville is the same temperature as Roseville (90). Move into the east foothills just a bit and the delta breeze isn't as strong.

One thing I will say, I would never live in the Sacramento Valley north of Chico or the San Joaquin Valley south of Fresno. Redding and Bakersfield are just brutal.

Actually, it would be fair to use the Executive Airport reading, but I'm not. I am using The City of Sacramento readings.

The City of Sacramento temps I've been reporting are reflective of the entire City of Sacramento and the southern and western portions of Sacramento County. And, 2/3 of the Sacramento Metro Area.

That 83 was at Sacramento Executive Airport which was getting a strong delta breeze today (Downtown Sacramento readings were 85 at 3pm and 86 at 4pm).... I'm in the Citrus Heights/Fair Oaks area where the breeze was very light and my high today was 92.6 so those 'Sacramento' readings don't always accurately represent the immediate metro area..However I totally agree that even though Sacramento can get brutally hot, we are fortunate to be in a geographic location that allows us to feel the marine influence unlike the northern and southern sections of the great central valley. Those nighttime low examples comparing Sacramento to places like Redding, Fresno, and Bakersfield really hit the nail on the head. I moved to Sacramento from the east coast in 1994 and quickly learned that my 2 favorite words in the summer are delta and breeze.

Ok, But the Fair Oaks temp was still 10-20 degrees cooler than Vegas/PHX/Fresno. And the 83 degrees was reflective of the City of Sacramento proper.

Ew. Rivers in Sacramento proper are dirty and gross. Better to join a gym with an indoor pool.

Seattle overnight temperatures in the summer are often a few degrees warmer then Sacramento due to the mild marine air.

That "mild" marine air is pretty darn cold off of the NorCal Coast and the SF Bay-Golden Gate Pacific Channel; it's that marine cold moist air that funnels into the Sacramento Delta and which keeps us as cool as Seattle in the evening and night; otherwise we would stay warm into night like the rest of the Central Valley.
