Wind Tonite

Sac 19 mph
Bakersfield 24 mph
Phoenix 14 mph
Vegas 22mph
Fresno 25mph

Peak wind prediction by Google

Bakersfield shouldn't be so high, something's up with the jet stream. Poor Phoenix, always getting shafted.

Car wash owners are going to be in heaven next week, especially in dusty bako.

Most of the rest of the nation is by far more muggy-humid than it was today. Have ever been in NYC in the summer, it feels twice as humid as it did today. The high in Sacto was 83F and the dew point was higher than usual, but still in the comfortable range.

Sacramento almost always has very comfortable dew points, when it is slightly higher than our normal we notice it immediately and call it “muggy” when it really isn’t compared to mostly every else in the nation.

June 15, 2020, midnight (11:59pm)

Sac - 60F, dew point 50F
Austin - 76F, dew point 73F
Phx - 90F

Hey Chim, I know you do a lot of late night and early morning temps, which emphasizes the relative cool of Sacramento at night, but we've also had discussions here in the past about the temps outside of the highs and lows to get a sense of how it is when people are out and about. Like when evening hits and people are dining or walking outside. With those in mind, we've been really missing those warm Central Valley evenings lately.

Last night at 9 PM, my husband and I were walking our dog in our Scripps Ranch/inland San Diego neighborhood, somewhat bundled up at 59F while Sac was reporting 83F (same as Palm Springs, which I thought was cool for PS). By 11 PM, it was 60F by us, 72F in Sac, and 80F in PS. By 9 AM this morning, it was 74F in Sac and cloudy and 61F here. While I'm not complaining about the upper 70s in the daytime here, it's been too cool to have dinner outside, and we've been getting so cool at night (the other night our car measured 54F at 11:30 PM), that it doesn't totally feel like summer.

My point is, the very best feature IMO about Sacramento's summers are the very enjoyable evenings, which draws people outside after a fairly hot day. Those are so pleasant most of the time that I would rank them above the 6 AM low temps as the best feature. I know you guys are in for near-triple-digit days for the next week, but there's a really great trade off in that. So enjoy it!

This has been the best, coolest summer. It is almost July land hardly any 100-degree days yet. We had a stout heat wave early, but then really noting until of late. It has been wonderful. And nice how well it has been cooling off overnight with low morning temps.

Usually when we get this, the east coast is scorching hot, so I wonder how they are doing.
