21mph winds for sac and 16 for Frisco, right now. I guess it can get windier in sac. Nice.
BTW, Fresno had 25 mph wind that day, not 23

Weather models are out and sac should be cooler than average for early may! Congrats.
I'll try to post the link if I can find it

So I'm worried about my newly planted Valley Oak (Quercus lobar) with all the wind! I do not have it supported by two posts, only one. It better not get blown down! Lol!

So I've been all giddy about the Valley Oak I planted last week in my front yard, only to find out that another Valley Oak (Quercus lobar) is growing naturally at a 2nd home I have in Sacramento. It's about 4 feet tall and it must have grown from a seedling (acorn) that came from another tree(s). There is a park about 100 yards from my front yard and has at least five 50 foot tall Valley Oak's and we suspect the wind OR a squirrel carried an acorn to the site where my young tree is growing. Nobody planted the tree and it looks very healthy. Its growing where two other trees were cut down.

I've noticed wherever you seen the Valley Oaks growing with other big trees the Valley Oaks always look healthier. I suspect its because they are native to the Sacramento Valley.

Coincidently, there is new documentary about Sacramento Trees: Documentary explores Sacramento's history as 'City of Trees' | The Sacramento Bee

So April is one my favorite Months in SACRAMENTO.

APRIL 2018

Early Morning Lows: 3 days - upper 30Fs; 19 days - 40Fs; 12 days - 50Fs

Afternoon Highs: 1 day - upper 50Fs; 12 days - 60Fs; 12 days - 70Fs; 10 days - 80Fs

Beautiful weather, some rain, green everywhere with lots of Sun.

You don't need the Heater nor the A/C.

Transition weather, you get a taste of the coming summer. But a few days it feels like our mild winter doesn't want to go away.

Mornings are always fresh, cool, and breezy.

Plenty of perfect afternoons, never hot.

You can bring out the shorts and T's in the late afternoon for a few hours.

There is still plenty of snow less than 2 hours up the mountain.

Rivers still run high, swift and fast.

Looks like it was a perfect month -- but you have too many days in the month! 1 + 12 + 12 + 10 = 35 days? :-P

I only remember occasional April heatwaves with temps in the 90s, one having been my 16th birthday when I was getting my drivers license. I remember that well. :-)

One of my favorite times of the year is the cool nights in May. I sit here on my balcony in Roseville, CA on a May evening at near midnight and it's 54-deg with a light 5-8mph wind gently swaying the trees nearby. This wind is so character of many nights here in the sacramento valley with the gentle delta breeze, I wouldn't give it up for anything. It reminds me of a calm ocean tide going in and out.

East coast native here. I think Sacramento's weather is paradise compared to the frigid cold winters and blisteringly hot/humid/constant severe weather summers of the Northeastern US. I actually prefer this over bay area weather, which imo is too chilly for me.

I love it here, but daaang, the past 2 years in April/May have been the worse for my allergies. It's so bad that my chest is congested and wheezing. Time to get on meds starting in April up until summer.

If it's any consolation you could be for the worst in many many other cities, on a national scale, Sacramento ranks much better than other cities.
