Exactly. The previous poster likes to cherry pick times of the day, ignores or downplays the daytime high, or goes completely awol, when it’s hot up there. I’ve spent many a summer, and still have family in Sacramento, and they’re always talking about the summer heat. Their posts in this thread provide me with comic relief.

JUNE 2018 - SACRAMENTO - More like an A- report card.

HIGH TEMPS: Number of Days:

70's = 2 days
80's = 13 days (heat index = 14)
90's = 12 days (heat index = 14)

Heat index 100F or more = ZERO Days
(3 days of actual temp at 100 or more)

LOW TEMPS: Number of Days

60's = 7 days
50's = 23 days

*Heat Index - Because of Sac's very comfortable dew points, actual temps in the triple digits usually give a heat index of 2 to 3 degrees LESS than actual temp.

Can we get a progress report for July?

SAC COMPARED TO PHOENIX, HUGE DIFFERENCE, SAC IS MUCH MUCH BETTER, YOU CAN ALWAYS COUNT ON A HOT DAY TO BE COOL AND/OR COMFORTABLE THAT NIGHT OR A GOOD PART OF THE NEXT MORNING IN SACRAMENTO WHICH MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN A/C BILLS AND JUST OVERALL COMFORT AND FOR OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES.

JUNE 2018

Phoenix - HIGH TEMPS: Number of Days:

70's = ZERO days
80's = 1 day
High 90's = 4 days
100 plus = 25 days

Phoenix - LOW TEMPS: Number of Days:

The Low Temp in Phoenix never dropped below 75F heat index; worse yet half the month never dropped below 80F; there is never a part of the day that is actually cool and comfortable for 30 days straight in Phoenix in the Summer.

80's = 14 days
High 70's = 16 days

60's = ZERO days
50's = ZERO days

Hey Taco, it's not just Phoenix that Sacramento has better weather you can add Texas, Florida, and the entire Southern USA, much of the Eastern Seaboard and the much of the Midwest if you factor in heat index and how many hours per day it is actual uncomfortable versus uncomfortable, and real cool down hours per day, and factor in inclement weather.

You do know much of the USA has uncomfortable Summer weather.

I never said Sacramento didn’t have better weather than many areas. Raving about a 65 degrees at 10pm doesn’t mean squat to those dealing with 90-100 a good portion of the usable day. Yes it does make it nice to sleep, but really shouldn’t be the temperature used when making comparisons.

I spent my summers growing up between my home in San Diego, Seattle, Sacramento, and Detroit. I can tell you, especially doing construction in high school with my uncles, that Sacramento was by far the most unbearable, Detroit is a very close second. These were multiple summers, over extended periods of time, so I just didn’t happen to catch somewhere during a heatwave. For the record I was doing construction in Seattle too, so it’s not just me factoring that in that makes Sacramento seem worse. I was also a kid playing outside in these locations as well, so I’m very familiar with their weather.

Hey I really like Sacramento, I’ve talked it up, and suggested it to people in other threads. I just find it comical after talking to my aunt and having her say it’s 102, only to read on this thread how beautiful it is at night. Prime example is it’s 78 out right now, but it’s gonna reach 97 today. Telling people how wonderful it is at 10:30am doesn’t paint a accurate picture.

Good lord. Heat index of 100 for July of 2016. How about how many days so far this month that have been 90-100+.

All those places are significantly further south in latitude. That would be like me claiming Sacramento is worse than Seattle or Portland or Minneapolis. A better comparison would be Denver, Omaha, St. Louis, Louisville, Raleigh, etc.

No you are wrong about Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis not a fair comparison with Sac as they are too far north. You are also wrong about Fresno, Vegas, Phoenix and Dallas as they are fair comparisons with Sac, although further south; they are not that much further south.

Latitudes

Seattle 47.60 (+9)
Portland 45.51 (+8)
Minneapolis 44.97 (+7)

Omaha 41.25 (+3)
Denver 39.73 (+1.2)

St. Louis 38.62
Sacramento 38.58
Louisville 38.25

Fresno 36.73 (-1.8)
Las Vegas 36.16 (-2.0)

Raleigh 35.77 (-2.5)

Phoenix 33.44 (-4.5)
Dallas 32.77 (-5.5)
Austin 30.26 (-7.5)
