Really, I often hear Bay Area and LA folks say that Sacramento is as hot as Vegas and Phoenix. Glad to hear they are learning that it clearly is not, not by a long shot.

June 1 to July 31, 2015 (Summer thus far)

Austin, Texas (heat index) - 49 days (corrected from last post)

Las Vegas - 43 days
Phoenix - 41 days
Fresno - 22 days

Livermore, CA (Bay Area) - 8 days
Sacramento - 8 days
Walnut Creek, CA (Bay Area) - 7 days

First 10 days of August 2015 (High Temps)

Phoenix - All 10 days were 100+ (includes heat index); 8 of those days 105+

Sacramento - Zero days of 100+

Sacramento - Regarding heat index, only 1 day above 90F, all other days 80's or high 70's. Zero days of 100+

*Note that Phoenix's heat index temps are lower than actual temps like Sacramento, but during Phoenix's monsoonal season (July 1 to Sept 30) Phoenix's heat index temp is the same as actual temp or higher than actual temps; whereas Sacramento's heat index is consistent throughout the summer. Sacramento's heat index tends to be 3-5 degrees cooler than actual temp.

It might be better to compare Sacramento's weather to some place with a similar latitude. Like Kansas City, St Louis, Nashville, Virginia Beach, etc.
