You're not going to find hipsters in trendy second-hand clothes drinking craft microbrews and discussing the merits of veganism here? I take it you haven't been to Midtown then....you can't swing a dead cat here without knocking over someone's foam-art latte and artisanal donut onto their thrifted Starsky & Hutch T-shirt.

Yeah it sounds like somebody hasn't been spending much time in midtown. Yes our suburbs are slow and sleepy, and there isn't a ton to offer as far as urban handouts outside of the grid, but the grid is a fun place.

But we also get those clear, crisp, sunny but ice-cold winter days. Just a lot more variation than Pacific Northwest weather. Some folks love it, others don't.

The summer San Francisco fog has a way of coming into the Valley in the winter, and sitting here for weeks....

Ah! You got me! I have not been to Midtown. I live in Orangevale. I go to ARC. I've been spending my time in Roseville, Antelope, downtown and down in Elk Grove. Looks like the OP may need to take my assessment of Sacramento with a grain of salt.

As an aside, it also looks like I may need to do some exploring of this "Midtown."

Well, yes, you do! It's kind of like sunshine in Portland: it does exist, but sometimes you have to look for it. We keep all the interesting stuff down here. I tend to repeat a line I got from a touring Portland band a while back: Midtown is basically Portland with palm trees.
