I'm considering buying a property in the 3rd Ave & 36th St area of Sacramento. I would appreciate some insight into the neighbourhood - general feel, public transport availability, desirability, etc. Thanks

That's Oak Park, one of Sacramento's worst ghetto areas and home to several Black and Latino gangs. Unless you are a hooker or crack dealer, it's not safe to be on the streets at night in Oak Park.

If you are a hooker or crack dealer you have a limited life span anyway so you might as well get shot in Oak Park as anywhere else.

Why can't he/she be both

Oak park is going through problems. Kevin Johnson (former NBA star)
has tried to revitalize the area but his for-profit companies are coming
in for lots of flak for abdicating on revitalization projects.

Default My parents owned a house on 36th street

that they rented out. Several years ago the Police found a body in the back yard, it was a guy that had been released from Folsom Prison a week before he was shot and dumped. Oak Park is Sacramento's version of South Central.

if it is Oak Park - then there is some danger to living there. There has been more money putinto the area - and some "first home buyers" have really done some great work remodeling the homes

BUT it is near (or in ) the Ghetto - and too close for my comfort

And if you have kids I wouldn't even drive in that area!
