Hey folks,

Long time, no post; prolly cause I don't live here. The Mrs. and I live in LA ( I'm sorry), but I've been thinking about moving up N.

What's the market for RNs right meow - preferably from people who are actually working nurses if possible. I have a BSN, a couple years experience in the ER and would like to continue to work in the ER. I'll just put it out there and say I make about $37 p/hr + bennies. My wife also works but is going to school part-time.

It's hard to find legit cost-of-living data but from what I've seen it seems to be that the avg. ER RN salary relative to the cost-of-living in Sacramento is much better than down here.

Accurate or no?

Also is it possible to live close to major medical centers (i.e Davis)?

- Buying or renting = renting
- Budget or price = less than $1500
- Employment situation and location = any hospital in Sac.
- School consideration = possibility of using CAlstate or UC for Master's/con't ed
- Pets (especially those considering rentals) = 2 small dogs
- Urban, suburban or rural preference = Urban-ish
- Need or desire for public transportation = 1 car and 1 bike (I like to bike to work)

Thanks for reading.

I'm an RN in the area. I think you can easily make more than your current salary depending on your experience.

A fantastic area to live is East Sac as it is between UCDMC, Sutter Memorial & Mercy General. You could even walk to work! I've seen rentals in that area in your price range. Other close neighborhoods would be Elmhurst (walking to UCDMC), RiverPark, Tahoe Park. Midtown & Land Park would be a little further, but probably doable.
