AT&T offers services that border on Stone Age and Consilidated Communications (Surewest) is dropping the ball before I'm even a customer. I've been sitting here waiting for the technician to do the install since 12:30 (it's 5:10 now). So they're 40 minutes late for their 4-hour window. Nice. Called to see what's up and the tech said he'd already been here which is a lie since I've been sitting on my butt in the living room catching up on DVR recordings (Daily Show and Portlandia).

Comcast? I never thought I'd say this but I really miss Time Warner.

Guy from Surewest was a little late for my install too, but he was super considerate when he got there, install was completely free and now I have super fast, super cheap internet for the next two years. So there's that. Comcast--the internet worked fine, but they were horrid to work with. If you can get a deal, it might be worth it, but expect terrible service and a horrible time renegotiating your rate or services when the intro period expires.

I wonder if the providers choose the areas based on how safe it is. Surewest doesn't have service in my area, south sac. Verizon doesn't either. No Netzero either. I am stuck with ATT.

Maybe more to do with average income of the area? I don't think fiber optics use any valuable metals that would get targeted by thieves, but I could be wrong.
