I can't find too many posts about this on the internet so I might as well chime in and write about what I think.

I tried finding a place earlier tonight in Roseville and it was extremely maddening to navigate and find it. I don't get why more people don't pull their F'n hair out driving there on a regular basis. I don't even live there and I think its hell. I can't imagine the people who do.

It seems like yuppieville, stuck up for the most part and just flat out rude, nothing to do, boring, strip mall after strip mall. I hate that aspect about this state period, but Roseville and outer Folsom really really seem bad, almost like they are like a major city full of sprawl or nearly as bad as people say Los Angeles area is. Arcade Fire is right in their opinions about the suburbs but in general, you can't really win in this area period when it comes to meeting new people or doing anything exciting unless you're rich.

You seem upset! I actually like it in this area. Maybe it's because I'm not in Roseville, but I live in Lincoln. Maybe that means I'm not as stuck up. I have to move down to Southern California and I'm not looking forward to it.

I think it is just you.

Look, different areas emphasize different attributes folks find interesting, comfortable or enjoyable.

Folks with kids, especially with youngsters or school age kids, might dislike the stuff you find interesting. It doesn't mean you have bad taste in lifestyle or entertainment, it just means you are at a "different place in life" and what a place like Roseville or Folsom have to offer isn't of interest to you.

But for others, it is a great place to live and raise kids. Just a matter of your own interest and priorities.

What were you trying to find and why was it so difficult?

And yes definitely does not sound like the place for you, good thing you don't have to live there.

It's a suberb like all metros have, in every state. Suberbs attract families, corporate types that like the close proximity to a city but can afford a quieter life. If you don't like suberbs, avoid em'.

I have to say, after living in midtown for 6 yrs I began to go to Roseville every weekend for a changeup. I'd relax at the Fountains area Pete's after my workouts. I like the area and Folsom. Not my 'ideal' places, but you have to find the good in any city. Roseville/Folsom is beautuful with great trails, nice restaurants, and some great looking neighborhoods.

Boring people get bored anywhere. No place is going to solve that problem.

I think Roseville reflects the attributes that property developers find interesting.

Sure that would be true, but so do many families and even some single folks. Having gone through the process of raising kids, I can tell you priorities are usually different for folks at that stage of life, and what younger single folks (and some older folks) consider interesting doesn't really work as well for them.

Developers benefiting too doesn't bother me at all, catering to a legitimate need in the market.

Yes Roseville sucks. We all know this. It's for soccer moms and bored housewives with "pool service".

I would like to hear what peoples ideal place to live would be! Every place to live is a series of pros and cons. I have lived in Metro areas and I prefer living right here! And I'm not even a pool boy!
