Can anyone give me a feel for what the Antelope area is like? Is it a self-governing town, or officially part of Roseville? More or less urban, terrible traffic or crime, ethnic and income level makeup? I'm considering buying a house either in Antelope, Roseville, Rocklin, or Lincoln. Thanks in advance for your input!

My sister had a house in Antelope. It is definately not as nice as Roseville, Rocklin or Lincoln. Its okay...from what I know, it can be pretty spotty as far as crime.

Lincoln I would reconsider, nice housing but there is NO outlet to any type of freeways and that has created a TON of congestion. SR-65 is basically the only way in and out of Lincoln. They built the housing, but not the transportation infrastructure. My cousin lives up in Lincoln Crossing and drives to Folsom (she works at Intel). I honestly don't know how she does it with the commute. It is about as opposite as you can get, it has to take her about an hour each way at least in her commute.

You need to check it out for yourself, but you couldn't pay me enough to live in Lincoln.

Thanks for the input, especially on the commuting time from Lincoln on out. Do you know if there are any realistic plans on the books to build out more roads from Lincoln?

I don't off the top of my head. I will email my cousin to find out if she knows anything. There is a regional growth plan by the different counties that they have put together called SACOG.

No, SpencerLV, no new roads or major highways in the forseeable future. If they do get any money, they will use it to fix the I-80 bottleneck, which is the area of the 80-East Fwy that narrows right before Roseville creating a traffic nightmare. Bu they are planning, and currently working on a Lincoln By-pass, which should take commuters away from the downtown area. The way it is right now, Hwy 65, now a major roadway, goes right through the center and downtown of Lincoln.

The Powers that Be would like you to believe they have a solution to the traffic problems, but it's unlikely any major road works will take place before 10-15 years down the road. By the time they secure the funding, purchase the right-of-way property via eminent domain, etc. it will be a loooooong time before anything gets built.
