I agree, the house we just bought has black appliances, all we needed was a new refrigerator so the logical choice was black. We had a big shiny stainless steel LG refrigerator in the house we sold and it was impossible to keep it looking good, ten minutes after I cleaned it it would have fingerprints or water spots on it no idea how they got there - no more stainless steel for me again, ever.

There is a Sears outlet on Folsom Blvd in Rancho Cordova that sells returned/Damaged items. When I say damaged a mean a dent in the side of the refrigerator. I've bought 2 sets of washer and dryers as well as two refrigerators here. The prices are 20-50% cheaper than what you'll find in stores.

Sears Outlet: Discount appliances, refrigerators, dishwashers, laundry equipment, lawn tractors

Though I have never owned one, I always thought stainless steel appliances will be a pain to clean. My wife disagrees, though.

Again, check out the reader forum section of CR. You may need to get an online subscription but it is totally worth it. The readers refute many of the CR recommendations with personal experience. I have not regretted a single purchase I have made based on reader reviews.

Can't say I've tried a Miele vacuum, but I swear by my Dyson DC65 for picking up dog hair.

Yes that sleek white (not the 1980's 90's patterned white) is making a big come back with some SS accents, looks particularly good in all white / natural untreated wood accent farm style kitchens. If I was able to start from scratch I'd do mine this way.. but unless you have the money to redo a an entire, a lot will depend on what kind of counters and tops you have now. SS is just easier to go with almost anything and more neutral. Ofc if you're only replacing 1 piece of appliance, just get what matches the rest.

Fingerprints show easy on SS. I think the newer veneers are better at resisting -- Smudgeproof

Didn't know about these smudge-proof ones. These could be a good compromise.

I am guessing they're much more expensive than normal SS ones, though?

I no longer have a dog. It took 5 years before all the dog hair was gone. I love dogs, just don't have the time for one right now. So, I will just enjoy your dog, as long as they are clean.

Be careful for 'smudge proof' SS appliances they have a clear coat over the SS which makes it absolutely impossible to rub out a scratch

Pacific Sales. They'll even beat the big box stores like Home Depot etc. Large selection of appliances.
Pacific Sales - Kitchen, Bath & Electronics

Oh and regarding miele vacuums. They are so far and above Dyson. If youre going to spend Dyson type of money on a vacuum then get a Miele. They are also the quietest vacuums you can buy,

I have to say I didn't have good luck with the Miele cannister vacuum for picking up cat or dog hair.

It's not just about the suction power (I'm sure Miele is just as good), it's more the mechanical action of the brush head for dislodging stubborn hair stuck in carpets and on fabric furniture. My dog sheds a bucket a day when the seasons change, ugh.

Just FYI, not sure if OP was ever looking for a vacuum or has pets lol
