Yes, just like the Boston Tea Party.

The protesting continues across the country & is applauded by many in the black community, and I see ongoing posts on FB along the same lines. There is thread upon thread on the subject under the current event forum.

There was a post on my Facebook from a guy showing a picture of his brother, an African American in full dress uniform who recently died fighting for his country in Afganistan. He was wondering why the White House sent three representatives to Michael Brown's funeral but none to his brother's. He was wondering why a thug would possibly be a more important black person than his brother.

I would love to hear the answer to that. My guess is because Michael Brown was killed by a white cop and the brother was merely killed by some middle-eastern Muslims.

I guess making tired shoppers sit in their cars waiting forever for the protesters to be hauled away will change the world.

Or something.
Whether you agree with this specific issue or not, blocking traffic is actually one of the most effective forms of public protest.

Yup! If you really want to turn people away from your issue it certainly is. Inconvenience and anger them and they'll remember to be against whatever it is you're advocating. In that respect it really does work.

If he is a criminal thug like Saint Michael Brown of the Swisher Sweets was, good riddance.

Well, they, the agit-proppers, don't care about you or I the proles. What they are doing is making life difficult for the people running things.

I am not speaking to this issue specifically, but I think we need to start getting used to inconveniencing ourselves if we want real change in the U.S. We will never have real and lasting change without it. We need to get go of the notion that democratic forms of government are supposed to be convenient.
