Depending on the opinion of whoever has lived in the SoCal High Desert, I've been wondering if it's a good idea to return home so to speak.

Generally speaking, I am kind of done here. The weather here is driving me insane. I lived in Sacramento for over a decade and honestly aside from my living situation, which is nice, it's not much different here. Hot, kinda dirty, and near impossible to go anywhere interesting in SoCal due to the traffic. I could go back to another living situation that is not as nice but I would be able to live rent-free. This place as nice as it is, it's HOT..and my housemates are stingy about the AC and other things...on top of that there are other grievances I have that are mostly personal and irrelevant.

I just wonder, if things have gotten better or worse, I know that my old neighborhood has had some gunplay in recent weeks.

Ya, things are great. A guy recently just got stabbed in Midtown for wearing skinny jeans, but I'm gonna call that a freak occurrence.

I moved from the Rancho Cordova area last year which has been in the news on SacBee a lot for not very positive reasons. Midtown was always cool but risky. I used to go to the art walks on the weekends there.

Fortunately, our cost of living is low enough that it's easy to get out of town for a few days during hot weather and take a break from the heat.

A couple of questions....
Which is your old neighorhood?
And do you have to move there?
Will you still be living with roommates? if so, will it possibly be the same situation, stingy about AC & other things.
Ah, rent free...back with mom & dad? that coould have other issues especially if you've been on your own for very long
Depending on the area, you may consider these complaints (Hot, kinda dirty, and near impossible to go anywhere interesting due to the traffic) to be an issue here in Sacto as well.

If you have to ask, it's probably not.
