There is a pretty decent Russian community in Antelope as well. Specifically Walerga area, near the Belair and 24 hour fitness

If you want the best bread in Sacramento and some folks to converse in Russian with go to Neroe's Bakery on Fair Oaks blvd. Check out the day old bread behind the deli counter, they usually have two grocery carts full one cart is full of 75 cent a loaf bread, the other is $1.50.

There should be quite a few Russians in the downtown/midtown area as there's an Orthodox church at 13th and G. There is/was a Russian restaurant on, I believe, J Street.

Please don't shoot me down with Kalashnikov, Makarov, WW2 or other bullets for my question lol. My parents live in NC and have friends from the ex-soviet union who moved to Sacramento to be closer to their children and grandchildren about 7 years ago. Last year they returned back to NC saying rising crime in Sacramento made them leave the area. Their children and grandchildren followed them to NC. Is it true that slavic community is leaving Sacramento or/and CA for safer, quieter, less congested places?

If they are leaving, then there are more arriving...I live in Carmichael and there are a very large number of Russian speaking people here. Of the ones I've talked to, most are from the Ukraine. Almost every major store here has at least a few Russian employees and there is a fair number of Russian restaurants and grocery stores. Maybe the ones who left lived somewhere nasty like North Highlands?

Yeah, just make sure you're not calling Ukranians Russians. They DON'T like that.

If you meant ethnic Russians that called the Ukraine home, well, ok.

I don't make assumptions about people or call them anything lol. Here's a link to a website for Russians in Sacramento, (you can right click to translate to English)

I thought this was interesting: "Sacramento jail will be tablets in Russian"
