What kind of infraction is this? What is my recourse if I catch the dog owner in the act. The problem is chronic, and it seems the dog kicks some of the poop to my drive way after it's done.

I live in El Dorado Hills. I can't build a fence because HOA will not allow it. The sign by the lawn isn't deterring.

We have the same problem and we live in the Gold River area. If you catch the owner in the act, did you say anything to them? We have neighbors who let their dogs run off leash as well as some outdoor cats who consider our front yard their pooping ground. We said something to the daughter who was letting her dogs poop on other neighbors' lawns at night a while back, but now I think it's more the outdoor cats that are creating a problem.

I haven't caught the owner or owners in the act yet. I did however saw one culprit who left the poop on my neighborhood's. I called her out and asked her to pick it up. She completely ignored me and quickly walked away.

these are big poops, so they rule out cats (they only poop in my backyard as cat poops have a distinct smell).

Most places have in their codes the requirement to pick up pet waste in the yard.

I'm confused, is the neighbor allowing his dog to dump in your yard or not picking it up in his? If his, the code would apply to him. If your yard, unless you can somehow prove it's his, you're stuck (it's your yard).

I can't imagine the HOA doesn't have something about this but, again, if it's your yard it's your problem

Clarification: One time I saw a dog owner left the poop on my neighbor's front yard and that's when I called her out. She flat out refused to pick it up and left.

I'm thinking I might have to get video proof and talk to my HOA.

Cameras are your friend.

I had a neighbor with the same issue (in Folsom). He went down to the FPD office to find up what they recommeneded, and then he proceeded to scoop up the poop in a shovel, and walked down to her house & dumped it, I think on the porch. He never had a problem with that person again.

I used this method, it worked for me.

I have cameras now, and I know who the new culprit is, but I'm next door so there is never poop on my yard. But, there are other issues in my neighborhood. Cameras are great. It doesn't mean that the neighborhood pest(s) will change though.

Sounds disgusting.

Is it typical that fences are not allowed in El Dorado Hills HOA's?

I would not consider buying where I cannot have a fenced backyard.
