Just moved from Santa Rosa to Rancho Cordova.
We had wanted to move to Sebastapol as we loved the holistic feel of the place. However my wife got a great job working for UC Davis so we had to move.
In a year or two we want to buy a house,,,so, is there any towns in the surrounding areas that have that liberal, holistic feel?
Thanks.....

What makes a town feel 'holistic'?

The best way I can explain it is that the people are kinda on the hippy side. spiritual, earthy, liberal.
So it would be opposite from the corporate feel, with cookie cutter homes etc...
You may even find older homes like Victorian type homes in the area.

What about Davis? Whole Earth is going on there right now. Lots of cultural opportunities, ragingly liberal people, and no commute for your wife! Otherwise Grass Valley would be an extremely long commute, but that place is pretty neat, too. Placerville is kind of conservative and redneck, but there is definitely an artsy vibe too- witchcraft store, Cosmos Cafe, craftspeople, etc.

I will have to check it out, She works at an extension of UC Davis in Rancho Cordova, so Placerville is a thought, however that would mean a 45min commute for her.
Thanks for the info...

I am beginning to think the kind of town I am looking for is more towards the coast as it seems the more inland you go it seems to be a bit more big city, conservative corporate feel.
I hope I am wrong...

Victorian houses, cafes, liberal politics? I'm thinking Midtown. It might be a bit livelier than you are used to, but it might be worth a look.

I think you may be right...I have been seeing some post about Midtown...
It seems kinda weird having that kind of place in the middle of Sacramento proper.
I will check it out
Thanks.

I know what you mean. That's the same kind of thing I am looking for, and I have been reading a lot of good things about Midtown. Lots of coffee shops and bookstores, ect. Also, I have been looking at apartments and have seen a lot of unique buildings and old houses. I have also heard that Midtown is bike friendly, too. That's pretty holistic.
