My family and I are thinking of moving to Plumas Lake in the next year, and I have heard mixed reviews. Can anyone who lives there provide some insight as to the pros/cons of being in Plumas Lake? It looks like a great place to buy, but I know it's kind of far from everything. Anything else? I have a small family, but we like doing things. Any insight would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Wow. Haven't seen a thread in regards to Plumas Lake in quite a while.. Life here (Plumas Lake community member) has its advantages being away from Sacramento.. We are close enough, but yet far enough away to see every star in the sky at night. I would estimate 90% of residents are small young families and a majority are military (Beale airforce base), or law enforcement( Yuba County Sheriff, CHP, Sac PD), so I feel we have a very safe community which is/ was a major factor. School system for a California school system is awesome, we have always been able to call, email etc.. any teacher with a response , I feel they do care about the kids in the system... In the spring and summer time, there is a tuesday farmers market at the large blue park (parks here are known by color), and a water spray park for the kids, baseball diamond etc... It is a very family friendly community... It is not a Roseville/ Rocklin type community meaning, if your priorities are close to shopping , big box stores, restaurants etc... then Plumas Lake is not for you... We do have a Walgreens, which carrier essentials, and everyone will know you..., and a gas station with a pretty decent micro brew selection.. Gas maybe higher, but hey its off the freeway... Plumas Lake is a straight shot into Sacramento, which is where I work... I can get from Plumas Lake to J st exit in 30 min , at 6am... Hopefully this helps, we love it, love the family oriented community( You will know your neighbor), love the small town feel...eventually I believe we will have more retail stores, but in the mean time. whats the rush?
