Similar question. Moving from out of state to work at UCD Med Center. Would the commute from Folsom/ED Hills be any better than the commute from Roseville/Rocklin?
Thanks!

No, pretty much the same distance and thus roughly the same commute length.

In my experience US 50 is slightly better than US 80... I think it would be easier to get to and from UCDMC from Folsom/ED Hills than Rocklin and would be a less painful overall commute. Although if you are doing it every week day it would take its toll.

Actually, the commute from Folsom would be better, but only if you could work outside of the normal 8-5 job. I assume you'll be doing 12 hours shifts, so it shouldnt be a problem. Plus, you can also take the Light Rail from Folsom to 34 St, and walk the remaining 2 blocks to the med center. Plus, with the S50 expansion, I understand light rail will go further than Folsom...looking for the flyer....

Ok, I got that wrong. The plan is to finish the SouthEast Connector between Folsom & Elk Grove along White Rock, extend light rail to the airport and Elk Grove (a 2nd station?), widen Capitol City Fwy between J St & Watt Ave & add a carpool lane, add an express light rail service from Folsom to downtown and a couple of new fwy exchanges are planned in Folsom way into the future. So...it looks like things will be improving for the Roseville/Rocklin commute too.

Although with all the growth, the commute can be a little trying. A friend was just complaining going east on 50 at 6pm was like a parking lot, took them 1.5 hours to get home. I plan my appointments to downtown outside of commute hours for this very reason.
