Actually Stockton is too upscale for tribal casinos, it doesn't warrant the comparison.

This will no doubt accelerate the white flight that started over 10 years ago. Now the last few middle class neighborhoods can experience creeping blight from the south in addition to the north. And don't forget the congestion! All those traffic funds are going to Biz 80 and elsewhere.

Is there any hope at all for that miserable city? I honestly feel bad/embarrassed for the people I meet who live there. The only appropriate response to "I live in Elk Grove" is, "oh... sorry".
This is just weird, especially the last paragraph. Why in the name of all that is holy would you have to respond with "oh....sorry" when you meet an Elk Grove resident? Why would you need to say anything at all if you have nothing good to say?

Lincoln has Thunder Valley.

Placerville has Red Hawk

Communities stand on their own merits regardless of casinos

Neighborhoods go up in down over the course of the real estate cycle. But the housing stock in most of Elk Grove is still pretty new. There are a few areas that border on South Sac that I would be reluctant to buy in, but most of Elk Grove is actually doing much better than I thought it would. Stockton is really economically depressed. I don't think this comparison really works.

lol, i live literally 5 mins from that proposed site. Are they still going to build that outlet mall and a casino, or scrap the whole thing together and build a casino? It would be really cool to build a casino too.

Elk Grove has one of the lowest crime rates in all of California for a city of its size. What are you talking about? In what way does it resemble Stockton?

Because elk grove is adjacent to South Sacramento and EG isn't as "Safe" as Roseville, Lincoln, Folsom, or EDH.

I'm just guessing what the OP meant.....
