Well there is a mega casino near roseville and rocklin, a costco, and a mega mall.

I was going to make a new thread but I can ask people on this thread. For the people living by Thunder Valley--have they notice an increase in crime or has crime by the casino hasn't been an issue?

As an advocate of Elk Grove, I defended this city countless times. However, this may be the straw that broke the camel's back...

I have noticed the increase in crime. It has been really bad since I left OR I finally opened my eyes to it.

That's nothing. I've seen worst and this is coming from a guy who knows exactly what ghetto looks like.

Where you around the late 80s and early 90s when Fresno and Stockton were at its peak with gangs? Now, that was crazy! I was a teen back then. Everywhere we hung out. Gang members were everywhere. At the mall, at the gas station, at school, at the bowling alley, at the arcade area, at the pool area, everywhere.

How do I know they were gang members? Their haircut was cut with the letters of their gang name or their numbers representing their gang. They wore all blue or all red, throwing signs that I knew for a fact that it wasn't sign language for the deaf as we drove by them or when we are stopped at a red light or as they drove by us.

People were being killed every day or other day and mostly where gang shootings. Hell, I wasn't even a gang member during my teens and I was armed to the teeth when I hung out with my friends when I'm in those two cities. Until I have to start arming myself again when I go out, I still think Elk Grove is tame.

Default Elk Grove is Big!

There are Ghetto parts of EG not doubt, particularly towards the middle that border south sac. But the other parts are quite nice with the extremes out west near I5 and out east near 99 being really quite affluent.

The area near I5 has a huge surge in home priceses due to bay area transplants (easy access to east bay during the weekend) and elderly parents moving to live near their children.

The irony (if you see my other posts) is that the increase in home prices is causing people to leave EG because they can cash out!

One shouldn't judge a city by the actions of a couple of high school punks. A gun incident happened at the highly rated Oakmont High in Roseville too.

Yea. That was my main problem living in Elk Grove. In fact, I lived in South Elk Grove bordering Galt.

I noticed that there are a lot of Vietnamese Asians in Sacramento. I have been told by Asians, that there is a hierarchy among Asians and that Vietnamese are on the bottom. It may be because many are refugees. And other Asians come from more affluent backgrounds at least comparatively.

Asians as a whole, tend to do better than whites. But possibly if there is an area with mostly Vietnamese, it won't have the same characteristics as other Asian areas.

And if you consider how career and education driven Asians tend to be, I don't think most Asians would want to live in Sacramento. They would want to live where high paying jobs are such as the Bay Area.

I want to see all these gang members you and people you know keep seeing? You and your friend must be gang experts to be able to ID gangsters left and right. LMFAO

Why don't you come by my house and we can go around Elk Grove neighborhood and I want you to point out gang members out for me. Let's put your MONEY where your MOUTH is. If those people you point out are gang members, I pay you and if those people aren't gang members, you pay me. Deal?
I know NOTHING about Elk Grove other than it's a newer area south of Sacramento proper. If you don't believe there are gangs there, go have a talk with the local police. They likely have a huge map that shows all of the neighborhood gang territories, names, etc. When I saw one of these "gang maps" of Orange County CA it freaked me out and made me want to get the hell out of there.
